Back in 2019, the Las Vegas Raiders failed miserably in their attempt to give Antonio Brown a new home after his ugly exit from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brown joined the Raiders in March of 2019 and was released in September without playing a single game. He soon joined forces with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots the same month.

And now, almost 4 years after the incident, the controversial wideout Antonio Brown reveals why he left the $30 million deal with the Raiders to join hands with Tom Brady and the Patriots in 2019 and furthermore, why he followed Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.

“I go to Oakland, man, I get a big deal. Mark Davis, I love Mark Davis,” said Brown during a recent episode of Tyreek Hill‘s podcast ‘It Needed To Be Said’. But in my mind, you know, as a player you just thinking like ‘Yo, I want to be a champion’. You know, I’d already done everything from making the money.

“So, I call Mark Davis as a smart man I am because you know I’m a good guy,” said Brown.“I’m like ‘Yo Mark, I love everything about here, I love money but this not championship culture. This not the environment I want to be in. Not to be arrogant but I got it. I don’t need to hustle you. I don’t need to hustle NFL. It’s been a great you know enterprise for me… So, I get with Tom Brady.”

Maybe Brown’s memory is off, but back in 2019, the wide receiver didn’t have a smooth exit from Oakland. He missed 10 out of 11 training camps and even had an altercation with the Raiders’ then-general manager Mike Mayock. He requested a release from the Raiders after he was fined $215,000 following his altercation with Mayock.

Immediately after getting released from the Raiders, Antonio Brown signed a 1-year deal with the Patriots worth up to $15 million. However, he played only one game for the Pats and was soon released by them after a sexual assault allegation against the former All-Pro pass catcher.

Brown remained a free agent for some time before the Buccaneers added him to the roster during the 2020 mid-season. He signed a one-year deal with the Bucs and helped Tom Brady to win a Super Bowl ring.

But his second year in Tampa Bay ended as a nightmare for him and the Bucs. During a game against the Jets in January 2021, Brown shockingly quit on the Buccaneers in the middle of the game by stripping off his jersey and storming off the field. He hasn’t played a single snap in the NFL since that moment.
