The Philadelphia Eagles are 5-0 to begin the 2023 NFL season. The reigning NFC Champions are one of the Super Bowl favorites this season. They will look to extend their winning streak to 6 this Sunday against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. However, there will be something different about this game. The Eagles will be wearing a special jersey against the Jets, courtesy of their QB Jalen Hurts.
The Eagles will be donning white shirts and black pants against the Jets in their week 6 matchup. They wore the same outfit against the Denver Broncos in 2021. It was Hurts’ idea to do so. The Eagles are doing so to switch it up a little bit, according to Hurts. Against the Broncos in 2021, they wore the same outfit and beat them 30-13. The Eagles will hope for a similar outcome against the Jets this week.
“I take full credit for it. I worked really hard to get Mr. Lurie to try and switch it up a little bit. I appreciate them letting us wear the black pants.” Hurts said in an interview. This will be an addition to the Eagles’ Kelly Green uniforms. The team also brought back their original colors in July.
The Eagles defeated the Los Angeles Rams in their last game on Sunday. They started the 2022 season in a similar fashion, winning their first eight games before losing to the Washington Commanders in week 10.
Jalen Hurts can join elite company with a win against the Jets on Sunday
The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t lost a road game with Jalen Hurts as their starting quarterback in almost two years. With a win against the Jets on Sunday, that streak will move to 12 straight-away wins. He will join the likes of Tom Brady and Joe Montana in the list of players with 12 consecutive away wins.
Montana’s streak of 18 consecutive away wins spanned almost five years. Brady’s 13 straight-away wins came in 2016 and 2017. The Eagles went 14-1 last season and won two playoff games before losing the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hurts has thrown for 1,262 yards and six touchdowns this season. However, he also has four interceptions and is 12th in the league with a QBR of 60.6. He will hope to lead his team to the Super Bowl again this season. The Eagles will play their next game against the New York Jets at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
