Ryan Tannehill was the eighth overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins. He played for them for seven years and, unfortunately, could deliver just one winning season. He was then traded to the Tennessee Titans in 2019, where he saw a reversal in fortune.
In 2019, Ryan Tannehill led the Titans to a 7-3 record in the 12 games he started. He threw for 2742 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions and won the Comeback Player of the Year award.
Tannehill delivered his best season in 2021, leading Tennessee to the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The Titans had a 12-5 record with Tannehill under the center. However, the team lost to the Bengals in the divisional playoffs 16-19.
Reason for Ryan Tannehill’s departure from the Tennessee Titans

The 2022 season wasn’t kind to Ryan Tannehill. He tore a lot of ligaments in his ankle due to which he started in just 12 games. The 34-year-old still has one year left on his $118 million contract extension and when asked after the end of the regular season if he would want to come back to Tennessee, he said, “Of course, yeah, I’d love to be back here. And we’ll just have to see what happens.”
However, head coach Mike Vrabel wasn’t as confident as Tannehill. “We have a lot of guys here that are under contract,” Vrabel said via SI. “We have a lot of guys that want Ryan to get as healthy as he possibly can to go be our quarterback and figure out things that are going to help us win. That is the case for a lot of guys. A lot of guys that are under contract, finished the season not out there. Let’s get everybody healthy and see where everybody is at, then we can make some decisions.”
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Ryan Tannehill is available for trade a day back. This isn’t Tannehill’s personal choice because he wants to stay and play for the Titans. However, the Titans don’t seem to share the same view.
Additionally, the cap hit of trading for Ryan Tannehill is $36 million and many experts and fans believe that no team in their right mind would trade for him. The Titans drafted Malik Willis in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft and by the looks of it might go forward with him under center.
Ryan Tannehill leaving the Titans is a decision from the higher-ups of the organization and while nothing has been finalized, it looks like fans have seen the last of him on the field.
