Will Baker Mayfield replace Tom Brady at the Buccaneers?

Tom Brady recently announced his retirement from football after 23 seasons. The former Bucs QB is the most decorated football player of all time. With his retirement, the Bucs are left with only one QB option in their roster and maybe it’s time to add some reinforcements.
Replacing the great Tom Brady is an immeasurable task, as the QB has achieved a lot in his NFL career and is probably the greatest to ever play the game. However, the Bucs will have to try getting used to life without Brady.
QB Kyle Trask is the only QB on the Bucs roster currently and it is speculated that the Tampa Bay team will probably go for a QB who has experience playing in different teams. Baker Mayfield has been strongly linked with the Bucs after his stellar short-stint with the Rams. Mayfield was waived off by the Panthers after performing terribly for them. However, he had retribution with the Rams and delivered a great performance in Los Angeles.
Mayfield’s short-term contract is up and with just days left in the free agency, there will be many teams interested in signing the QB. If the Bucs complete the signing of Mayfield, then the former Panthers QB will compete with Kyle Trask for the starting QB spot.
According to various sources, Baker Mayfield is the best option that the Bucs can have with their salary cap. The 27-year-old QB is talented and will also adhere to their salary cap.
Tom Brady’s absence will be felt even after signing Baker Mayfield
Baker Mayfield was the NFL’s no.1 overall draft pick. However, the QB failed massively in the league and is currently trying to find some consistency. If the Bucs sign Mayfield, then the QB will have an opportunity to find some consistency and deliver some good performances.
However, Mayfield will never be able to replace the legendary QB Tom Brady, who won the Super Bowl with the Bucs in his first season itself. Although the former Patriots QB wasn’t on the same level he once was, Brady was still one of the best in the league when it came to getting points on the board.
Regardless, Brady is gone and the Bucs will have to get used to it. Maybe, with Baker Mayfield in charge of their offense, they can keep their place as the division leaders and can even have a shot in the playoffs.
