The former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Will Compton is on rough waters after promoting UFC President Dana White‘s new and brutal Power Slap League tournament on social media. The UFC promoter Dana White is dabbling in a new sport as he recently became the promoter of the new sporting tournament known as the Power Slap League. For context, it is a slapping league tournament, where the players are allowed to slap their opponents and the winner is determined by who endured the pressure of the slaps the longest.
The league is maintained by White and his team. It was sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission with certain rules and weight classes just like MMA. Besides, the first season of the league just made its televised debut in America last month. The ratings weren’t as good as the league promoters would’ve hoped, but Dana White is already looking at deals to produce seasons 2 and 3.
The competitive sport, due to its nature that doesn’t allow the athletes to defend themselves, has received a lot of negative reactions from the general public. Unlike the other combat sports, the Power Slap League doesn’t involve any skill. The competitors just have to stand and receive multiple hits to the head which could cause some serious health problems for them in the long term.
Amidst this situation, the former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Will Compton promoted the controversial sporting league, which did not sit well with some people on social media.
Social media rips the former Raiders LB Will Compton
The former NFL linebacker Will Compton, who spent 9 years in the league with three different teams, promoted Dana White’s brutal competitive sport on his social media which riled up many people.
The 33-year-old podcaster shared a clip from one of the matches in the league with the caption, “Lol. You gotta watch this s**t. @powerslapleague is going to be awesome.”
Social media insinuated that Will Compton was paid to promote the league. But he could’ve just done it out of respect for UFC President Dana White, who made an appearance on the recent episode of Compton’s podcast “Bussin With the Boys.”
Will Compton played for 9 seasons as a linebacker in the NFL for the Washington Redskins (now known as the Washington Commanders), the Raiders, and the Tennessee Titans. During his career, the 6’1″ linebacker registered 3 interceptions,1 sack, and 4 fumble returns.
