Looks like the Minnesota Vikings would have to set their hopes elsewhere, as the star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is not expected to be back this week or in the coming week. As the team was already facing hardship without Jefferson, they were positive for his return to the upcoming game against the divisional rival Chicago Bears.

As week 12 is approaching soon, so is the divisional matchup between the Vikings and the Bears. Unfortunately, the Vikings have received upsetting news recently with Jefferson’s injury status.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Jefferson is more inclined towards the option of not playing in the Monday night football game, against the Bears, standing at 3-8. Vikings as well, do not wish to make any decisions in haste, as the wide receiver’s health comes first. Though they may seem to have a long shot to the playoffs this season.

Vikings WR Justin Jefferson is not expected to play on Monday Night Football in Week 12 against the Bears because of his hamstring injury,” tells a source to Russini. This would be quite beneficial for the star wideout, as it would give him two more weeks to get back in action, counting the Vikings’ bye in week 13.

With that being said, there’s a very likely chance that Jefferson would surely return by Week 14. And that would be a smart decision for him as well as the Vikings, as he would have been prepared better.

What happened to Justin Jefferson in week 5?

Jefferson missed out on six straight games of Vikings, counting from week 6 this season, due to his severe hamstring injury. The renowned All-Pro wideout suffered the injury in week 5, during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the week 5 game, WR Jefferson sustained the injury after being slipped and then failing on the ground. Later on, it was confirmed that the star wide receiver of the Vikings had suffered a hamstring injury. This listed him on the injured reserve list, where a player missed a minimum of four games.

Ironically, the three-time Pro Bowler has already missed six games this season and isn’t planning to return anytime sooner than week 14. The injury he sustained required him to rest for four to six games. But in order to recover completely and take on the opponent, the wide receiver needed enough time. So that, with exercising caution, when he returns, he returns fully recovered.
