ESPN has fired approximately 20 people on the third round of its mass layoffs. This time, ESPN is letting go of 20 of its top on-air personalities in a cost-cutting movie. Previously, they focused on their behind-the-scenes employees, but now some of the prominent names got axed. But this could be a blessing in disguise for the NFL analyst Mina Kimes, who could end up getting promoted because of the layoffs.
According to Front Office Sports, the leading sports media brand ESPN is extremely high on the NFL analyst Mina Kimes, who is currently appearing on NFL Live on ESPN and has her own sports podcast The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny. She is one of the biggest names in the sports media world currently and this ESPN mass layoffs could end up getting her promoted.
Mina Kimes is set to take over Suzy Kolber’s job as the host of ESPN Monday Night Countdown. Kolber was one of the victims of the mass layoffs on Friday. Kimes’ contract will be expiring next year and she is expected to attract interest from multiple other brands, including Dan Le Batard’s Meadowlark Media and Bill Simmons’ The Ringer.
In fact, Simmons recently told The Washington Post that he is interested in signing the popular sports analyst. Kimes is currently estimated to be earning around $400,000 a year, but that salary will take a huge leap once she signs her next contract, whether with ESPN or some other company.
