The Cleveland Browns recently suffered a major blow after news broke out that their star quarterback, Deshaun Watson, would miss out the rest of the ongoing season due to a shoulder injury. Watson decided to go through surgery, which would put an end to his campaign. And now, reports suggest the Browns worked out the veteran QB Joe Flacco, but will they sign him as the Watson replacement?
According to multiple reports, the Browns worked out free agent quarterback Flacco on Friday. However, the Browns aren’t immediately signing Flacco to their roster per ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler. Both sides will assess the situation and Flacco could sign with the Browns after their week 11 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Following his workout, Joe Flacco is not expected to sign with the #Browns today, per source. That could be logistical - he wouldn’t be involved in the Week 11 gameplan this late in the week anyway. So, Flacco will head home and both sides can assess.Jeremy Fowler tweeted on Friday.
It makes sense since the Browns wouldn’t have had Flacco on their plans for their crucial division game against the Steelers. The Browns are expected to start their rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who they drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Joe Flacco last played in the NFL in the 2023 season with the New York Jets. He completed 110 of his 191 attempts for 1,051 yards and 5 touchdowns while throwing 3 interceptions.
What happened to Deshaun Watson?
Just a couple of days ago, the Browns announced that their star quarterback, Deshaun Watson, would undergo a season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Earlier this season, Watson missed a few games due to his shoulder injury. But it seems like he couldn’t continue playing with his injury and decided to undergo surgery to get it fixed.
I'm still in disbelief. I'm still trying to process all the information. I felt like we were turning a corner to really make a run and still believe we still will with the guys in this locker room. I just wanted to physically be a part of itWatson said via ESPN.
The Browns had a great start to their season and are currently sitting with a solid record of 6 wins and 3 losses. They still have a shot at making the postseason, but Watson wouldn’t be a part of that run. He looks to get fully healthy ahead of the 2024 season.
