“Winning became more routine than losing,” Tom Brady explained why he left the New England Patriots in 2020

Tom Brady is arguably one of the best players of the NFL, and the legendary quarterback made a massive decision to leave his only franchise, the New England Patriots in 2020. It was seen as a massive decision at that time given that he joined them in 2000.
In his recent show Man In the Arena, the 44-year old decided to finally let in on the reason why he made such a bold move. Tom Brady’s father, Brady senior also gave his perspective on his son deciding to become a free agent that year.
Tom Brady finally revealed why he left the Patriots
“It became pretty obvious that he needed to make a change,” Brady’s father, Tom Brady Sr., said of his son’s final days with the Patriots. “It was wearing him down. It was beating him up.”Brady elaborated on why felt he had to leave.
Tom Brady was rather cocky while describing the situation, as he felt that he was tired of winning more matches than losing. In reality though, it was a true fact given that he had already won 6 Super Bowl titles with the franchise.
“Because we were very successful, winning became more routine than losing,” Brady said of playing in New England.
“The pain of losing far surpassed the joy of winning. When you expect to win, and you win, it’s more of a relief as opposed to ‘What an incredible accomplishment!’ In the end, we weren’t going to celebrate anything as a Patriot unless we won the Super Bowl.“
However, he conceded that the defeat against the Tennessee Titans in his final ever match but understood that things do not end the way people deserve in the end.
“It was tough to end that way,” Brady said of the defeat to the Titans, “but in football you get what you deserve, and we didn’t deserve much more than that.”
