“He’s rewarded for being sick”: Women suing Deshaun Watson call his $230 million guaranteed contract a big “screw you” to the victims
Deshaun Watson
Deshaun Watson is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. However, lately, he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. A lawsuit was filed against him by 22 women who accused him of harassment and sexual assault. Although a grand jury had declined to indict him in the case a while ago, he is still under NFL’s investigation.
What came as another twist in the tale a few days back, Deshaun in his deposition admitted that one of his encounters with a massage therapist ended with a woman weeping. Moreover, as reported by USA Today, Deshaun even sent a text to the woman apologizing for what had transpired.
“They don’t care about us, they care if Deshaun Watson can throw”: Women suing Watson
“Sorry about you feeling uncomfortable. Never were the intentions. Lmk if you want to work in the future. My apologies,” Deshaun had texted as per the report. When Watson was asked why he sent an apology text, he had claimed that he was trying to figure out what had transpired.
Most recently, the two women who have sued Watson for sexual misconduct talked in detail about how they feel regarding Deshaun’s massive contract with the Browns.”It’s just like a big ‘screw you,'” Ashley Solis claimed in an interview on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.”
“That’s what it feels like. That we don’t care. He can run and throw, and that’s what we care about,” Solis claimed, adding that she actually felt threatened by Watson after the massage session ended. “He just said, ‘I know you have a career to protect and I know you don’t want anyone messing with it just like I don’t want anyone messing with mine.’ To me, that’s when I got really scared,” she claimed.
Kyla Hayes, another woman who has sued Watson claimed that it feels like Deshaun has been rewarded for his awful behavior. On the other hand, one of Deshaun’s attorneys claimed that the footballer has zero regrets as he has done absolutely nothing wrong.
It will be interesting to see what happens next in the case. As far as NFL’s investigation into the case is concerned, it is still going on, and league Commissioner Roger Goodell has stated that a final verdict will be out soon.
