Aaron Rodgers’ move to the New York Jets from the Green Bay Packers was one of the hottest talking points of the summer. The veteran quarterback who has spent his whole NFL career up until now, decided it’s time to leave.
And now in the upcoming season, Aaron Rodgers will be having one of the most young and exciting teams in the league. He will be joined by some of his former teammates at the New York Jets, but it’s a relatively new offense he will be dealing with.
Amongst that offense is NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season wide receiver Garrett Wilson. He had a tremendous rookie year but this season it’s being predicted could be the biggest for him.
Garrett Wilson is concentrating on own performance rather than focusing on chemistry with Aaron Rodgers
There will be a lot of expectations from Garrett Wilson especially with the likes of someone like Aaron Rodgers joining the team. However for the young wide receiver, all he is focused on is his own gameplay and is not being bogged down by the pressure. He has expectations for himself which he is trying to fulfill.
“I expect more than all that,” Wilson said. “For me, it’s always been about the ultimate confidence in myself and putting the work behind it so you know it can happen when the season comes around. I’m not buying into all that stuff too much. No one’s expectations for me are higher than my own.”
Aaron Rodgers has praised Garrett Wilson heavily and has also said that he expects great things in the coming season from the youngster. Wilson said that it has been a great learning curve for him practicing alongside Aaron Rodgers.
“I was trying to be a sponge, and make sure I was locked into learning this new playbook and all the nuances to it,” Wilson added. “It’s been a great learning experience for me and I’ve been able to grow a lot.
Garrett Wilson recorded 83 catches, 1,103 yards and four touchdowns last season and was one the best players in the Jets team.
