If there is one thing that the 2023-24 NFL season taught fans, it is that a new day has dawned. As the older guard departs and younger stars arrive, franchises conventionally viewed as subpar have stepped up to be underdogs. This year it was the Green Bay Packers and the Houston Texans that emerged as the biggest underdogs in the league. Both the teams managed to make it as far as the Divisional Round of the NFL.
Following the performance of C.J. Stroud and DeMeco Ryans, the Texans have become a magnet for talented free agents. Xavien Howard, the cornerback who played for the Miami Dolphins last season is now a free agent and is keeping close tabs on the team as a prospective destination for him to join.
Xavien Howard shared his thoughts on the Texans via The OGs Podcast with former Miami Heat legends Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller. The latter suggested the Texans would be a great destination for Howard and here’s how the corner responded.

He said he’d love to play for the Texans. He admitted being a huge Texans fan and also lauded C.J. Stroud’s rookie year at Houston.
I would love to do that man, especially at home. I wouldn't say I've always been a Houston Texans fan but this offseason I'm a very huge Houston Texans fan. Man, they got a hell of a quarterback over there, young guy in his rookie year.Howard said.
Xavien Howard could be a game-changing addition to C.J. Stroud’s Texans for Super Bowl contention
Xavien Howard is just one of many free agents who are now viewing the Texans as being a serious contender, one that is worth joining. After all, Stroud and Co. were just two wins short of making it to the Super Bowl this season. The team’s inexperience cost them the playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Going into the season, nobody saw the Texans go this far along because they had a rookie quarterback and a first-time head coach in DeMeco Ryans. But the squad managed to prove all their critics wrong.
But after their performance this year, the Texans have shown that they have the potential to become a serious contender and put up a tough fight for years to come.
After Howard expressed his interest in joining the Texans, it would not be surprising to see the team reach out to him and attempt to structure a deal that makes sense for both sides. The biggest acquisition the Texans defense has made this offseason has been signing edge rusher Danielle Hunter who will give the team a big boost.
