No other player boosted their draft potential more than Xavier Worthy at the NFL Combine. The Texas Longhorns wide receiver set the fastest time during the 40-yard dash. Several NFL players congratulated Worthy for the feat; one of them was Patrick Mahomes.

Last week at the NFL Combine, Worthy outpaced previous-best John Ross, completing the 40-yard dash in a mere 4.21 seconds. After the run, the media asked Worthy whether he was aiming for the record. He told USA Today that he definitely knew he had a shot at beating the record.

I definitely knew I had a chance. I came in knowing I was going to run no slower than 4.25. When I ran a 4.25 on my first one, I knew I was going to break it.

Naturally, it didn’t go unnoticed, and Worthy revealed that his phone was ringing with congratulatory messages from every corner. Among them was a message from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Super Bowl winner’s words meant so much to the 20-year-old that he revealed that the Chiefs are his preferred destination.

In a perfect world, I definitely would want to go to the Chiefs. Just the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs improvise and use you. They had Tyreek [Hill]. The way they used him, I feel like that would be a perfect fit for me.

Tyreek Hill established himself as one of the deadliest receivers in the NFL with the Chiefs. The 30-year-old registered 479 catches, 6,630 receiving yards, and 56 touchdowns in six seasons with the Chiefs. 2 years ago, he left the Chiefs and joined the Miami Dolphins. And now, Worthy is looking to fill his boots.

Xavier Worthy doesn’t believe he can beat the fastest man alive

The Fresno native was a great addition to the Longhorns squad. He knew how to put his pace to good use. Worthy recorded 2,755 receiving yards in 39 games, scoring 26 touchdowns in the process.

In addition to being a skilled playmaker on the football field, he was a member of the track and field team. During his high school sophomore year, he ran 100 meters in 10.65 seconds.

However, Worthy doesn’t believe that he is a match for the fastest man alive, Usain Bolt. The legendary sprinter in 2019 ran the 40-yard dash in 4.22 seconds in sweats at the NFL Experience. Worthy acknowledged that if he had to go up against the Olympic gold medalist, he would not beat him.

His 40 was in shoes and sweats. There’s no comparison. I’m not even going to disrespect him.

But when asked about whether he would be the fastest receiver in the NFL, he nodded without any hesitation. He could easily go as high as the fourth wide receiver in the next draft, behind the likes of Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze.
