Former NFL quarterback A.J. McCarron has had a great outing so far in the recently rebooted XFL season. In his first season in the XFL, the 32-year-old QB has led the St. Louis BattleHawks to a couple of comeback victories to start their season with a 2-and-0 record. The former Bengals quarterback took less money to play in XFL so that he could create memories for his kids and the XFL owner Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is very appreciative of it.

McCarron who spent 6 years in the National Football League, would probably get paid more as a backup QB with the Falcons, Raiders, and the Texans in NFL than what he is getting paid as the starting quarterback in XFL. However, that didn’t stop him from slinging the rock at Dwayne Johnson’s league since he wanted to create memories for his kids, who always wanted to see him play. After his second victory, the former Alabama star thanked the XFL for presenting him the opportunity to play the game that he loves.

“Ever since I came out of college I’ve been counted out a little bit,” McCarron said after the game. “And it’s just fun to come out here and play. I miss playing, not always just being a backup and that’s a great living. It really is and I absolutely love it but I love playing. This is special and I can’t thank the XFL enough.”

The Hollywood celebrity Dwayne Johnson, who is also the owner of XFL, showed love to the players of his recently rebooted league including A.J. McCarron for “playing for something deeper.”

“Man I love everything about this. Can’t ever count guys like AJ out. They play for something deeper. I root for and say ‘thank you’ to @10AJMcCarron and all our XFL players,” wrote Johnson while quote tweeting the video of McCarron thanking the league.

The XFL season which started on February 18 will extend all the way till May 13. There are 8 teams in the league that are divided into 2 divisions. And at the end of the 10-week regular season, the top 2 two teams in each division will qualify for the semifinals.

Furthermore, the winners of the semifinals will fight for the XFL Championship on May 13. Moreover, the league, which is on its third reboot, has signed an exclusive contract with ESPN for broadcasting rights and is trying to successfully get past the first season.
