The New York Jets had a winning start amid the disasters suffered by the NFL big shots in week one. They won the contest against the Buffalo Bills at additional time by the margin of 22-16. Despite winning, the Jets will not be very happy as their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a major Achilles injury and could be out for the entire season. 

Rodgers was the biggest bet for the Jets. After spending 18 years at the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers jumped on the boat of the Jets, this season. The fans were eager to see the two-time MVP winner’s skills. However, his stint on the field remained short due to the injury and the coach had to take him off. He was replaced by Zach Wilson.

Speaking on his injury, coach Robert Saleh said that he might miss all the games, this season. With his absence, a pertinent question also arises, Who is going to replace Aaron Rodgers? In the match vs. the Bills, Zach Wilson came as a replacement and had a good time on the field. He had a 14-of-21 passing record for 141 yards against the Bills. In addition to this, he had one touchdown and one interception. He had a crucial role in terms of beating the Bills. 

In a post-match presentation, Wilson spoke about Rodgers. Addressing the press, the alternative QB said, “It’s one of those things that is so unfortunate, but in my position you have to understand it happens, & you have to be ready, & you have to be able to step up & play. My job is to close the gap: how close can I be to Aaron Rodgers, & I’m gonna keep working on that every single week.”

Who is going to replace Aaron Rodgers?

A pertinent question is floating in the air – who is going to replace Rodgers for the entire season? Rodgers is an NFL legend, with two MVPs in hand, he is unparalleled in this league and very few can actually come close to him. By abilities and skills, Wilson comes nowhere to this legend and the Jets know that. However, if the future of Rodgers remains uncertain (which is likely to be), then he has to step up. 

It is no child’s play to step into the shoes of Rodgers. No one apart from Wilson knows that. However, the player is confident that if it has to happen then he is ready. He believes he is a better player this season and the tips from Rodgers during the offseason helped him to be. With advice from the legend he believes he can provide in crucial moments. 

Only time will tell how much he can provide for Rodgers.
