The former second-overall pick out of BYU, Zach Wilson is having a roller coaster of a year with the New York Jets. Initially, he started the season as a second-string QB in the depth chart behind Aaron Rodgers. But once Rodgers was injured, Wilson was thrown into the fire and is having an up-and-down year so far. Amidst this, Wilson used his bye week to go on a vacation with his girlfriend, Nicolette Dellanno, in Utah and is getting heavily criticized for it.

During Wednesday’s episode of “Evan & Tiki” on WFAN radio, the panel which consisted of the former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber, Evan Roberts, and Shaun Morash discussed the week 8 matchup between the Jets and the Giants. In the episode, Morash went on a rant about Wilson spending his bye week vacationing with his girlfriend.

Nicolette Dellanno, the girlfriend of the Jets quarterback, shared images from the trip on her Instagram profile, which led to Morash’s rant. The show’s host, Tiki Barber, tried to make sense of Wilson’s vacation by saying that the Jets QB just needed to see his family, but Morash doubled down on his stance.

Zach Wilson shouldn’t have gone to Utah, claims Shaun Morash

Last season, the Jets had a great start to the season as they had a record of 6-3 heading into the bye week. But after the bye week, the NY Jets went on a 1-7 run and didn’t even qualify for the postseason. Shaun Morash seemingly doesn’t want that to repeat as he claims Wilson shouldn’t have gone to Utah to spend time with his girlfriend.

He’s a professional athlete. The family could fly to New York and New Jersey. . . I believe 52 guys could’ve gone and visited families. The quarterback, the leader, needs to be at or around that facility all week last week and Zach Wilson has not done enough to get his a** on a plane with his girlfriend and go to Utah for a week.

Morash further went on to say that the third-year signal-caller should be on the grind and should’ve spent his bye week in the film room watching game tapes.

Nonetheless, Wilson seemingly had a good time with his family during the bye week. He would now look to focus on leading the Jets to a victory against the Giants on Sunday and shut down the critics.
