The New York Jets won their first preseason fixture against the Philadelphia Eagles by a margin of 24-21 but it came at a massive cost, as first-choice quarterback Zach Wilson suffered a brutal injury during the match. The 23-year-old exited the field with fears of him having torn his ACL, but upon further inspection, the Jets fans can heave a huge sigh of relief.

Following an MRI scan on Saturday, it has emerged that Zach Wilson has suffered a bone bruise and a meniscus tear in his knee. The worst fears have been alleviated after the tests showed that he did not rupture his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, as was thought initially given the way he had to leave the field abruptly.

Zach Wilson is now a doubtful starter for the first week fixture against the Baltimore Ravens

Wilson scrambled to his right and was heading toward the sideline when he decided to cut in and avoid Eagles linebacker, Nakobe Dean. It looked as if his knee buckled when he made the move, and Wilson then fell forward causing the injury.

The duration of the injury is supposed to be between two to four weeks, which raises doubts over his possible participation in the first-week fixture of the NFL regular season on the 11th of September. Jets head coach, Robert Saleh will have a task on his hands if Wilson is not able to participate against the Baltimore Ravens.

Mike White and Joe Flacco are the other available options that the Jets can choose between in case Zach Wilson is unable to make it in time for the fixture.
