Another day, another disappointment for the New York Jets. The team lost against the Kansas City Chiefs in a close encounter. The Chiefs won by a margin of 23-20. However, this game could have gone the other way if Zach Wilson, the ‘accidental quarterback,’ of the Jets, had not made a vital fumble. He was somehow better than the other games he played in this league, but failed to deliver at the crucial end.
In the post-match presentation, Zach Wilson took all the responsibility for the loss. He held himself responsible for not delivering at the crucial moment. The QB also said that it was not the fault of the defense as they failed to win the much-needed game.
“Yeah, that’s on me. Critical situation, I can’t have a play like that. I cannot drop the ball. This team is sacrificing a lot. Guys are making plays… to be driving right there and to drop a snap, I cannot do that.“I lost us that game and I cannot do that. I was making it clear to those guys that I need to be better. It can’t happen,” the QB said in the post-match presentation.
Despite losing the vital match, the Jets played really well after the Chiefs took a mammoth lead of 17-0 in the first quarter. The Jets then went on a monstrous run of 20-3 in the next two quarters. It was 20-20 at the end of the third quarter and the game had to be decided in the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs broke the deadlock as Harrison Butker scored a 26-yard field goal. However, the Jets got a good opportunity to settle things up. But Wilson botched a snap which was collected by defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton.
Zach Wilson had a good game against the Chiefs
Compared to the previous games, Wilson had a pretty decent outing against the Chiefs. He covered 249 yards of passing and registered two touchdowns. The Jets QB completed 28 passes of his 39 attempts. He was also not intercepted a single time by the Chiefs players.
Apart from the last fumble, Wilson was decent throughout the game. In four matches, Wilson has covered more than 700 passing yards and registered four TDs, which the Bengals and league’s most expensive player, Joe Burrow hasn’t achieved this season. Wilson’s efforts were well-received by his teammates and Jets fans.
The Jets are down by 1-3. They have now lost three consecutive games after Aaron Rodgers‘ elimination as their starter in the season opener. It is getting difficult for them to reach the playoffs.
