“Awful cocky” Zach Wilson gets hilariously trolled for his tough guy comment as Jets continue their 13-game losing streak to Patriots
The Week 8 Sunday Clash saw a demoralizing 22-17 loss of the New York Jets against the New England Patriots brought on by a punishing penalty and three interceptions for their QB Zach Wilson. The Jets’ four-game winning streak was broken, and this was their 13th consecutive defeat against the Patriots.
Going into the game, the Jets begged fans to arrive early and then watched as they left as the game dwindled away in the fourth quarter. While the Jets have been in good form overall this season, this week was a disappointing outing by Zach Wilson and co. The Jets were touted as the favorites going into the game.
In the post-game conference, when Zach Wilson was asked by a reporter about the so-called payback that his teammates were etching to give back to Patriots’ HC Bill Belichick and his men. He only had this nonchalant reply for that, “Yeah, we’ll have these guys in two weeks”.
This was enough for the so-called ‘kind’ people on social media to provide their two cents on this tough guy comment by Wilson.
Zach Wilson has a long way to go with the Jets and NFL Twitter made sure to remind him that
In his home debut against the Patriots last season, Wilson threw four interceptions. He added three more in Sunday’s 22-17 loss, which is sure to worry dejected Jets fans that Wilson’s growing pains are far from over and that he may not be ready to make the second-year leap that would help the Jets Take Flight and catch up to the AFC East.
He had gone three games in a row without committing a turnover, but on Sunday he committed three, including two in the second half. The Jets plainly struggled to move the ball in their first game without running back Breece Hall.
Zach Wilson’s inability to win the game outweighed John Franklin-Myers’ roughing the passer call on Mac Jones in terms of game loss. Last season’s matchup of Bill Belichick and Zach Wilson wasn’t fair, and it still isn’t.
And now when the young quarterback who is yet to walk the walk, just goes on in the post-game conference and says that the Jets will exact the revenge in two weeks, it doesn’t sit well with the game followers. NFL Twitter was bound to react to this statement from Wilson.
Let’s have a look at some of the reactions after that Zach Wilson comment.
The Patriots, who entered the game with a 3-4 record, were unquestionably under greater pressure than the Jets. But Bill Belichick’s team controlled the game and produced a memorable victory.
The Jets are currently 2nd in the AFC East division with a record of 5-3 after Week 8, and if they are seriously looking to break that depressing Patriots’ record against them, they will have to wait till November 20.
