Peyton Manning reveals his role in grooming Russell Wilson as the Broncos QB
Russell Wilson‘s trade to the Denver Broncos has reignited a lot of hope within the organization. The QB’s ability is something that the team has needed for a while as it has not had a good quarterback in a long time.
Wilson’s move to the Broncos is reminiscent of Peyton Manning‘s move to the Broncos from the Indianapolis Colts. The Hall of Fame quarterback appeared on the Rich Eisen Show and revealed how he has been helping not only his former team but also the quarterback adapt to this new situation.
“I’ve tried to be there as a resource for Russell if he has questions, I think he figures out a lot due to his preparation and attention to detail.” Manning was quoted as saying. The HOFer had high praise for Wilson as he believes that the quarterback has “already established himself as a leader in the locker room among the young receivers.”
Peyton Manning expects big things for Russell Wilson
Peyton has also helped the Denver Broncos organization in making sure that they put Russell Wilson’s ability to full use. Newly hired head coach Nathaniel Hackett reached out to Manning to know what he could do to make Wilson feel as comfortable with the playbook.
Manning advised the coach to implement plays that Wilson liked or found to be effective in his time with the Seahawks and integrate them within the Broncos playbook. “Denver did that with me when I signed here as a free agent, the Broncos did a lot of things to make my transition here easier,” Manning said.
Peyton expects “big things” from Wilson immediately, the Broncos have immense potential on the offensive end, the team needed a solid quarterback and in the past couple of years, they have had multiple changes. With Wilson in the lineup, the offense of the team has been rejuvenated.
