“Where’s The Logic?”: Nick Wright reckons Justin Herbert doesn’t deserve to be a Pro Bowl starter ahead of Patrick Mahomes
Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes
The NFL Pro Bowl rosters came in recently and there were a few surprises. While many were happy with the inclusions and exclusions, a lot of fans and experts made it absolutely clear that they were not impressed with some of the picks on the roster.
As far as the starting quarterback in the marquee event is concerned, Justin Herbert was preferred over Patrick Mahomes which evidently, did not go down well with many. Although Mahomes hasn’t had the best of seasons by his standards, he sure has reported good numbers in comparison to others.
“Mahomes definitely deserves to be the starting quarterback over 2021 Justin Herbert”: Nick Wright
Talking about the same, Nick Wright made a few interesting points. “I agree Lamar shouldn’t be in, Joe Burrows should. But the real issue is this, why is Patrick Mahomes not the starter?” he claimed. “Justin Herbert doesn’t deserve to be the Pro Bowl starter,” he added.
“I know the answer to that would be ‘the votes were in before last week’s game’, then wait to vote,” he said, adding that it is true that the 2021 Patrick Mahomes does not deserve to be a Pro Bowl starter in comparison to the 2020 and 2019 Patrick Mahomes.
“Mahomes definitely deserves to be the starting quarterback over 2021 Justin Herbert.” he further stated. Although analyst Chris Broussard was in agreement with Wright about picking Mahomes over Herbert, he claimed that Herbert has been preferred simply because he has reported numbers that Mahomes this season.
Indeed, Mahomes not starting came as a surprise to many, however, one has to agree that if we talk numbers, then Herbert has got what he deserved. May it be Passing yards or Touchdowns, numbers reported by both the quarterbacks are similar, but Herbert just edges past Mahomes in each department.
