“People want Matthew Stafford to fail” Eric Dickerson believes the Rams quarterback receives too much unjust criticism
Matthew Stafford and Eric Dickerson
When Matthew Stafford was traded from the Detroit Lions to the Los Angeles Rams, he was brought in to do one thing. Win the Super Bowl.
Now just days away from Super Bowl 56 in the Rams’ backyard, Stafford is just one win away from achieving that goal. Many would see the Rams season as a failure if they didn’t win it now.
As for Stafford, well he’s obviously had an incredible season and has done exactly what he needed to do. However, some consider that a Super Bowl loss is a failure for him as well. Hall of Famer and former Rams running back, Eric Dickerson, has a different opinion.
Eric Dickerson believes Matthew Stafford has already had a succesful enough season
On a segment of ESPN’s ‘First Take’, Eric Dickerson weighed in on Matthew Stafford saying, “Matthew Stafford is a veteran player. There are a lot of veterans on this team. It’s not like there’s a bunch of rookies running around there. The killing part is that it’s almost like people want Matthew Stafford to fail.”
Dickerson further added “I’ve never seen so many people against a guy. He’s come in and done what he’s supposed to do. Get us to the Super Bowl. I’m very happy and not even surprised that we are there (the Super Bowl) because of how Les Snead has set this team up.”
Stafford has undoubtedly proved his worth in LA. Where the argument of a failed season comes in is how much the Rams have committed to this year. Trading so much capital for Stafford and Von Miller along with signing Odell Beckham Jr.
This is a star-studded team that is expected to win the Super Bowl. So, if they don’t win it, some of the blame will fall on Stafford’s shoulders and it will be viewed as a failure for him despite his incredible success this season.
