The Super Wild Card Weekend will begin on Saturday night and so will high-octane games. One of the six wild card games will take place between the Kansas City Chiefs (No.2 in AFC) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (No.7 in AFC).
As hinted by Ben Roethlisberger earlier this season, this might be his play season playing as the Steelers’ QB. Big Ben had an emotional sen-off at his final game at Heinz Field. However, his teammates think that their game against the Chiefs might not be his last game in the NFL.
Ben Roethlisberger’s teammates adamant on winning against the Chiefs and extending Ben’s career for one more game
Ben Roethlisberger will be making his 23rd career playoff start. His last playoff win came in 2016 against the Kansas City Chiefs. NFL reporter, James Palmer had a talk with the Steelers’ players about this being Big Ben’s last career game. “This isn’t like when he was going into his final game at Heinz Field,” said Palmer. “Because teammates feel like if they play well and they win this game it won’t be his (Ben’s) last game.”
The Steelers are a 20-point underdog heading into the Wild Card game against Kansas City. Roethlisberger had said that the team knows they won’t be able to beat the Chiefs. “We’re probably 20 point underdogs [actually 11.5, per Tipico] and we’re going to the No. 1 team, I know they’re not the No. 1 seed but they’ve won the AFC the last two years, we don’t have a chance. So let’s just go in and have fun,” said Roethlisberger.
“We don’t have anything to lose”: Ben Roethlisberger is heading into the game without any pressure
Palmer talked with Big Ben’s teammates and they said, “He has a mentality with this group of — ‘We don’t have anything to lose’, we win three games, we are into the Super Bowl.” Palmer said that since the Jacksonville Jaguar beat the Indianapolis Colts and kept them from heading into the postseason, anything is possible.
The Steelers players said that anything can happen in the postseason. The players are confident in the veteran quarterback’s skills and experience and they feel that they can beat the Chiefs. The Steelers will face the Chiefs at the Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night.
