Even though football is considered the ultimate team sport, some positions have bigger impacts on the game’s outputs than others. None of the positions is as important as the quarterback. QB is the most important position in football. One can argue that no position in any sport holds as much importance as the signal-callers in the NFL.

That’s why the quarterbacks are highly desired. Teams usually reach for QBs in the draft and usually end up paying them a whole lot of money. There are currently plenty of quarterbacks in the league, but some are simply better than others.

1. Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs)

Who other than the Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes? The talented QB led the league in passing yards last season and won the league MVP award for the second time in his career despite losing his number 1 wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the 2022 season.

Furthermore, the 2-time All-Pro QB also led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory. If there’s any single player that could be called a game-changer, that would be the Chiefs’ signal-caller. The Kansas City-based football team will keep competing for football as long as he stays as their quarterback.

2. Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals)

The Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow has already proven that he’s a certified game-changer. Ever since he was drafted by the Bengals, Burrow has been an impressive QB for them.

Apart from his injury-riddled rookie season, Joe Burrow led the Bengals to two straight AFC Championship games in his two fully healthy seasons. Besides, he already has led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance but unfortunately lost to the Los Angeles Rams.

Now, Burrow, who’s entering his contract year in the upcoming season will look to solidify his position as a top signal-caller in the league by having an MVP-caliber campaign and potentially leading the Bengals to their first-ever Super Bowl victory.

3. Aaron Rodgers (New York Jets)

The New York Jets acquired the veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a trade with the Green Bay Packers during the 2023 off-season. With Rodgers under the center, the Jets have only one goal in their mind, and that is lifting the Lombardi Trophy in the near future.

The Jets have a stacked young roster with talented players all across the field. All they needed was a good quarterback with leadership skills. The Jets’ front office roped in Aaron Rodgers to fill that role.

Under Zach Wilson‘s leadership, the Jets finished 8-9 last season and missed the playoffs. But now they are considered a Super Bowl contender purely because they managed to land Rodgers. One can say that is a ‘game-changing’ move.

4. Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)

During the majority part of the 2023 off-season, the Baltimore Ravens were primarily focused on keeping the former league MVP QB Lamar Jackson on their roster. That’s how good of a quarterback Jackson is.

After months and months of rumors and speculations, the talented QB signed a new 5-year deal with the Ravens worth up to $260 million that made him the highest-paid NFL player of all time.

The former Pro Bowl QB Lamar Jackson is undeniably the best player on the Ravens’ roster. To say that their entire season depends on his performance will not be an exaggeration.

5. Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills)

The Buffalo Bills have been contending for Super Bowl in the last few seasons and one of the main reasons for it is their quarterback Josh Allen. The talented signal-caller has been playing at MVP level in consecutive seasons.

The Bills QB Josh Allen hasn’t won anything big in the league yet, but his franchise has been constantly knocking on the doors of the Super Bowl victory. Now, Allen has a strong supporting cast around him who can help him to play at his highest level. He could end up winning the MVP award in the upcoming season if he can stay healthy for the whole year.

6. Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles)

The Philadelphia Eagles surprised a lot of people in the 2022 season by winning the NFC East and making it all the way to the Super Bowl game. One of the main reasons for their successful campaign was their 3rd year QB Jalen Hurts, who took a massive leap in his performance.

The Pro Bowl QB Jalen Hurts was leading the MVP conversation for the most part last season until he suffered an injury. His performance last season helped him to a huge 5-year $255 million deal which makes him the second-highest-paid NFL player of all time only behind Lamar Jackson. Hurts will look to continue his good form in 2023 and will look to defend the Eagles’ NFC crown.

7. Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers)

Last season, the Los Angeles Chargers statistically had one of the worst defenses in the league but they still managed to reach the playoffs on the back of an impressive season by Justin Herbert.

The Chargers’ franchise quarterback is currently one of the most talented QBs in the league. And now, he’s got another weapon after the Chargers drafted the highly-touted wide receiver Quentin Johnston in the 2023 NFL Draft. If he can stay healthy on the field, he can surely lead his team to the postseason and secure his first playoff victory in the NFL.

8. Justin Fields (Chicago Bears)

The Chicago Bears‘ second-year signal-caller Justin Fields had a huge break season in 2022. Fields truly solidified himself as a dual-threat QB as he became only the third quarterback in NFL history to rush for 1000+ yards after Lamar Jackson and Michael Vick.

He will now look to continue his good form in 2023 and lead his team to a winning record. However, NFC North has become a tough division to win in the last few years with the rise of Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings. The young QB Justin Fields needs to play to his full potential for the Bears to even have a winning season.

9. Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars)

The Jacksonville Jaguars‘ former 1st overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence put up a remarkable season and topped off with a massive 27-point comeback victory against the LA Chargers in their wildcard matchup.

Now, the Jaguars under Lawrence is fully confident and in a weak AFC South division. If Lawrence can keep his form heading into 2023, the Jaguars might be a big problem for many teams in the AFC Conference.

10. Bryce Young (Carolina Panthers)

Yes, a rookie quarterback could be a big game-changer in the 2023 season. The Carolina Panthers drafted Bryce Young as the 1st overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Young has the potential to lead the Panthers back to winning ways.

The Panthers have improved so much in the off-season, adding multiple offensive weapons, and they are in the NFC South division, which is arguably the worst division in the league right now. If the Panthers start Young by week 4 or week 5, he could end up leading the Panthers to the NFC South division title.
