“His passion for the game still burns” Hall of Famer, Ray Lewis, believes Tom Brady will play until he wins his 8th Super Bowl

Tom Brady will in fact be playing in the NFL for his 23rd season in 2022. Just 40 days after he announced that he was retiring, the GOAT took to social media to announce that he had changed his mind.
In his original retirement post, Tom Brady never actually said he was retiring. That caused people to wonder if he would one day make a return eventually. Then when asked about ever returning, Brady claimed that the door wasn’t shut and that it could be possible.

Well, it didn’t take very long for that possibility to turn into a reality. Brady will return to play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 2022 at least. Whether or not he wishes to play past this season is yet to be seen but it’s not too hard to imagine.
Given the somewhat shocking announcement that Brady would be coming back, Ray Lewis shared his thoughts on how it all went down and on what it was like going head to head with the GOAT.
Ray Lewis shares why Tom Brady isn’t done in the NFL yet

Ray Lewis joined ‘The Rich Eisen Show’ where he commented on the Tom Brady news, saying “I think the competitive side of Tom is easily noticed. He’s one of the greatest competitors ever. The one thing I said when I got ready to retire was ‘if you have more in the tank, finish it, empty the tank.’ I don’t think he’s finished. I think if they would’ve won it, he walks out. But, tasting glory and then losing the way they did last year, I don’t know if that’s his pedigree.”
Lewis further added “I think his passion for the game still burns. And if you got it, ride it. For Brady, it’s like, how do you want it to end? We know what it’s been but how do you want to see the end. The last time I ever strapped up my cleats, I held the Lombardi Trophy. I think that’s a crave for Brady after you’ve seen it 7 times. That’ something that says ‘Wow if I can walk out one more time like this.’ It’s rare.”

When asked about playing against Tom Brady, Lewis answered with “For me and him, we had so much respect for each other because he understood the chess match. And the chess match is that I know what you’re running and what I’m telling you is that you may deliver the ball but somebody is going to pay for it. It was one of the most classic things that was never noticed because it was small changes. It’s one of the greatest battles.”
For a period of time, Tom Brady and Ray Lewis dominated their sides of the ball and you just knew that when they faced off in a playoff game, it would be like fireworks going off. Now, Brady is one of the only players left from those days and he still continues to dominate. Whether or not he will continue to do so in 2022? We’ll just have to wait and see.
