Patrick Mahomes found himself amongst the headlines quite a bit last week. Most of that had to do with his fiancé, Brittney Matthews, drenching the Kansas City Chiefs faithful after the incredible overtime win against the Bills.
The champagne spraying was taken quite brutally by fans across the league who did not hold back when calling out Matthews. Much of the criticism had to do with the fact that she was sitting in a heated booth and sprayed the fans who were sitting outside in the freezing cold throughout the game.
Having gone viral for all the wrong reasons, Matthews took quite some heat for her actions and wasn’t too pleased. Despite the criticism, Chiefs fans have her back and were ready to show their support prior to the Chiefs AFC Championship matchup against the Bengals.

Patrick Mahomes probably wasn’t expecting to find himself in the headlines for that reason but seeing his fans back his fiancé has to be reassuring. It’s difficult enough to consistently play at such a high level but to throw in off-the-field distractions related to people so close to you only makes things more difficult.
According to ‘nypost.com’ Matthews was quoted saying on her Instagram story “There has been quite a bit of buzz this week and it’s been a pretty rough week over here. However, me and my team have decided to try to turn this buzz into something and something good for the Kansas City Community.”
Seeing fans come together is just the gesture the Chiefs needed. Many of them have come together to support Matthews and she has taken the initiative to create ‘Team Brittany’ t-shirts and plans to donate the money to an anti-bullying charity in Kansas City.
