Russell Wilson is set to join the Denver Broncos. The news broke recently via Adam Schefter that the Seahawks and Broncos have agreed in principle on a trade.
The trade involves Drew Lock, 2 first-round picks, 2 second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, Noah Fant and Shelby Harris will be sent to Seattle in exchange for Wilson. The news comes off the back of Aaron Rodgers signing his record-breaking deal to remain in Green Bay.
While it may seem like that is what made the Broncos chase after Russell Wilson, they reportedly were in talks with the Seahawks over the past few weeks and the Rodgers deal had no impact on this trade.
The Broncos will be eager to welcome their future Hall of Fame quarterback as they made a similar move in the offseason of 2012 to bring in Peyton Manning. Of course, that happened in free agency, and this is a trade.

Blockbuster trades like this don’t happen too often in the NFL. This one had been rumored for a little while, however. There was noise about Wilson wanting out of Seattle for the past few offseasons. Of course, nothing materialized until now.
It’s a bit surprising given that Seattle had been adamant about wanting Russell Wilson to remain a Seahawk for the remainder of his career but clearly, the Broncos gave them an offer they simply could not refuse.
With such a big deal happening, Twitter is going wild about it.
