“He’s had enough of Rodgers”: Skip Bayless blames ‘selfish’ Aaron Rodgers for Davante Adams’ trade

The Green Bay Packers had a tough choice to make. Either let their best and most dramatic quarterback Aaron Rodgers go and spread the money around or retain Aaron at any cost and then try to cut costs as much as possible. They took the first option and it would be fair to say that they might be a little disappointed.

Davante Adams is undoubtedly one of the best wide receivers going around at this point in time. So when he announced that he will not play under the franchise tag something had to give as Green Bay had already dedicated a lot of funds towards retaining Rodgers.

As expected, the Packers had to trade Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders who offered a blockbuster contract to the star WR. According to Ian Rapoport, they offered Davante a five-year, $141.25 million contract which eventually makes him the new highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.

In exchange, the Raiders would have to give their 2022 first and second-round picks. Taking to Twitter, Skip Bayless had his say on the trade. He stated that the Packers had to give away the best WR as they had paid way too much to Rodgers. “Davante Adams, the NFL’s best receiver, basically just said he’s had enough of Aaron Rodgers, now the NFL’s most overpaid player. Can’t blame Davante. Aaron is all about Aaron. Congrats, 17,” Skip stated.

Well, it would be fair to say that the Packers had no choice after all. Letting go Aaron Rodgers would have created an enormous void but at the same time, a similar void would be created because of Davante’s absence. It’ll be interesting to see what the Packers do next.
