“Will help the team get over the hump”: Stephon Gilmore reveals the reason behind signing with the Colts

Stephon Gilmore
Stephon Stiles Gilmore is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. The experienced cornerback will now feature for the Indianapolis Colts in the coming season of the league. Gilmore played college football for South Carolina and impressed one and all with his performances.
He was roped in by the Bills in the 2012 NFL draft. Post that, he signed a 5-year, $65 million contract with the New England Patriots back in 2017. Gilmore is regarded as one of the league’s top defensive players. In fact, he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.
“It just felt right”: Stephon Gilmore on joining the Colts

However, the immensely talented cornerback was plagued by a quad injury that sidelined him for nearly a year. Stephon was traded to the Panthers in October last year. He featured in eight games for the Panthers totaling 16 tackles and two interceptions. Recently, he was roped in by the Colts.
Talking about the same, Gilmore said, “I think the Colts came in and I talked to the coaches and it just felt right. It was one of those things where it just felt right in my heart to come here, especially with the talent on the team. Watching them from afar last year, what they did and they were right there, I just wanted to come in and try to help the team get over that hump.”
“You have to prove yourself every year, so I take that mindset into each and every year,” Gilmore stated as reported by the Associated Press. “I’ve got to earn it. You can’t do that until you put the work in, until you go out each and every week and earn it.”
It will be interesting to see if Stephon can deliver his best for the Colts in the coming season.
