WNBA All-Star game drew a massive crowd

The WNBA All-Star game held on the 19th and 20th of July in Phoenix gave the attendees quite a show to watch. This year’s event was iconic, to say the least. It was the second time WNBA players faced off the U.S. women’s national team. With Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark on the same team, the show gave the audience their money’s worth.

The attendee turnout for the event filled the seats to the max which hadn’t happened in many years. Among them were several known faces, including Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe. Also spotted were, the former NFL star Shannon Sharpe, Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals. Along with them were Phoenix Suns coach Nate Tibbetts and basketball legend Sheryl Swoopes.

Team WNBA took home the victory with a score of 117-109. This might be a wake-up call for the U.S. national team before they enter the Summer Olympics in Paris after one more exhibition against Germany.

MVP Arike Ogunbowale leads WNBA to Victory

Arike Ogunbowale did not joke around when she came to play. The Dallas Wings star won MVP with an All-Star record of 34 points continuing her streak from 2021, the last time the game was played between Team WNBA and USA Basketball.

The competition had been to and fro throughout the match until quarter 3. Team USA led with 2 points entering the quarter but WNBA beat them with 4 consecutive baskets giving the team a 3-point lead. Ogunbowale upset Team USA big time, crossing them left and right. With back-to-back 3s and multiple shots from the field, she rounded up with 21 points and 6 assists.

On the other side of the court, Reese became the first rookie to record a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Caitlin Clark nearly set an All-Star record with 10 assists. Astonishingly, Reese and Clark made a notable duo after years of facing off as rivals.
