The Minnesota Vikings are about to usher into a new era where second year QB JJ McCarthy is set to lead the team. He will rely on the team’s best receivers, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and tight end TJ Hockenson, to help him get his feet wet in the league.

The first of those is an otherworldly receiver, known for his unreal catch radius, glue-like hands, and ability to break away using his agility and speed. There is a reason why Jefferson is one of the league’s highest-paid wide receiver.

Hockenson has had some decent outings so far and is primed to breach the 1000-yard mark this season. Then there is Addison, who can also use his quick feet to clear that same barrier this coming campaign. That goal has now become just a bit harder to accomplish.

NFL suspended Vikings WR Jordan Addison for the first three games of the 2025 regular season for violating the league’s Substances of Abuse Policy. Addison now will miss games at Chicago, vs. the Falcons and vs. the Bengals.

This latest revelation means the 23-year-old will have just 14 games to try and meet that mark. It is unclear what led to this suspension, but his absence will place enormous pressure on Jefferson and Hockenson.

This will be a good chance for rookie Tai Felton to get some additional reps. The Vikings need to start well if McCarthy has to find his rhythm. But he would have preferred the third year veteran’s experienced hands over a rookie.

Fans left shaking their heads as Jordan Addison finds himself in the wrong news

The Minnesota Vikings selected Jordan Addison in the first round with the hope that he will be the perfect partner for Justin Jefferson. He has been doing his part on the field. But off the field, his constant run-ins with the law and now the league have fans fuming.

His DUI charges aside, this new substance abuse violation has fans questioning if the USC alum has it in him to become a star in the NFL. Moreover, they believe his off-court shenanigans are painting a picture of him that does not include his football statistics.

Fans of the sport wondered if his head was in the right place. At a time when his quarterback needs him the most, he will not be available. Fans left many such reactions on social media, examples of which are below.

After completing the suspension, Jordan Addison will travel with the Vikings to Dublin as part of their two-game UK trip. The franchise hopes he stays in top shape and is ready to contribute against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There is growing skepticism around JJ McCarthy

Once Jordan Addison is back, he will be tasked with helping young QB JJ McCarthy build confidence to drop balls easily in the slots. With Justin Jefferson covering the top and TJ Hockenson manning the middle, McCarthy should be fine.

There’s this protective bubble. It’s not what I’m hearing. There are real concerns from last year. What I’m hearing on JJ McCarthy would not instill confidence.

Colin Cowherd said on The Herd

Colin Cowherd‘s sources tell him that the young QB is not what he is being touted to be. Moreover, there are concerns about his ability as the Vikings build a protective shield around him.

Russini confirmed those rumors and revealed that the franchise is doing what they can to show JJ McCarthy as their next quarterback Messiah. However, his performances in camp so far have not impressed anyone.
