“The biggest Benefactor”: Odell Beckham Jr is heading to the Super Bowl and cashing in huge money after being cut by the Cleveland Browns
Odell Beckham Jr
Odell Beckham Jr is living the dream right now. OBJ was cut by Cleveland Brown earlier this season and now he’s heading to the Super Bowl! On the other hand, the Browns finished the season with only 8 victories.
Los Angeles Rams dominated the game and crushed the 49ers 20-17 in the NFC Championship game to head to the Super Bowl. The Browns must be regretting their decision of trading OBJ just to satisfy their above-average QB. Given the state in which the Browns are right now, they shouldn’t have cut their elite offensive weapon.
Odell Beckham Jr earned more money in the playoffs than his signing amount with the Rams
Odell Beckham Jr was selected 12th overall by the New York Giants in the 2014 draft. He played with the Giants for 5 seasons after which he was traded to the Browns in 2019. OBJ’s relationship with the Browns was not cordial at all. After being excused from two practices earlier in the week following outrage on social media by Beckham’s father over the way Beckham was being used in the Browns offense, the Browns released a statement on November 5, 2021, saying that they would be releasing Beckham. He was waived on November 8.
Beckham signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams on November 11, 2021, with a maximum value of $4.25 million. Beckham will earn $1.25 million in a signing bonus and salary, with the other $3 million coming in the form of incentives. After signing with the Rams, Beckham’s luck turned around. He started in his first career playoff game in 8 years.
OBJ earned $500,000 after the Rams defeated Arizona Cardinals in the Wild Card game. The Rams further defeated Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round which guaranteed OBJ an additional $750,000 in incentives and another $750,000 on Sunday night after winning the NFC Championship.
If the Rams manage to contain Joe Burrow and the Bengals and win the Super Bowl, OBJ will receive $1 million for the Rams’ victory. Looks like Cleveland made a big blunder by firing Beckham since he’s heading to the Super Bowl and they couldn’t manage to finish top 2 in their division with the No.1 draft pick quarterback.
