The Dallas Cowboys have been having a hard time deciding the future of their head coach Mike McCarthy. Ever since the Cowboys’ early exit from the playoffs, McCarthy has been heavily criticized for his capability to lead the organization.

On top of that, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been running around town giving “unusual narratives” about McCarthy’s future as head coach. It’s a strong possibility that these narratives may never go away under Jones’ ownership. However, McCarthy has squashed all the rumors regarding him being fired and said that he will continue coaching the Cowboys.

“(Quinn) is certainly qualified, he’s very qualified. Yes, I would consider if I didn’t have a coach, I would have been interviewing him for coach. Mike knows that someday somebody other than him will be the coach of the Cowboys,” Jones said during a Senior Bowl interview two weeks ago. However, McCarthy isn’t worried about his future. “We talked about it. We talked about Dan’s situation. We talked about Sean Payton’s narrative also,” the Cowboys head coach said on the Rich Eisen Show. “I’m the leader of this football team.”

Dak Prescott, quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys is behind McCarthy. “We’re all following McCarthy,” said the QB. He was also asked about the issue between Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and McCarthy and if there is any feeling of backstabbing between them. “I’m gonna make sure that that we’re not, as you said, ‘The knives aren’t out’ between our head coach and our D.C. That’s so false, so false.”

Mike McCarthy isn’t worried about his job being snatched away from him by his staff. As he knows what Quinn is all about and what he is all about. Prescott has shown his confidence in McCarthy. While the Cowboys had a good season, they failed to capitalize in the playoffs. Even, Prescott’s performance was average at best the entire year. Mike plans to bounce back stronger than ever next season.

“At the end of the day, we both want the same thing, to win the World Championship. You gotta trust the relationship, the communication, and the connection that you have in our leadership group. I think we’re doing everything we possibly can to build a championship team here,” McCarthy said.
