“This WR core is a JOKE” – Colin Cowherd says the Packers can’t sign new receivers due to Aaron Rodgers’ greed

The biggest move this offseason has got to be Aaron Rodgers becoming the highest-paid QB in the NFL. The Packers will pay him a whopping $150.8 million over the next three years.

This move by Rodgers has stung Green Bay in a big way. Since the Packers were basically out of money, they couldn’t extend their star WR Davante Adams who had to be traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. Even Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been signed by the Chiefs leaving Rodgers and the Packers will practically no star receiver in 2022.

Aaron Rodgers has won but to what extent?

Colin Cowherd on his talk show discussed the current wide receiving situation in Green Bay and came to the conclusion that it is all probably Aaron Rodgers’ fault. “Just because you win an argument in the moment doesn’t mean you win the argument. Aaron Rodgers won the leverage play against the Packers. He won or did he?” Cowherd said.

“Right now the Packers in the weapon’s league have easily the worst wide receiving core in the league,” Cowherd added. The current wide receivers in Green Bay are Chris Blair, Randall Cobb, and Rico Gafford among not so notable others. The only receiver that NFL fans might know is Randall Cobb. This goes to show that the Packers have virtually no offensive weapon they can count on in clutch moments.

DK Metcalf, WR for the Seattle Seahawks is apparently available “at the right price” according to Jerry Fowler of ESPN despite the team making it clear they have no interest in trading their star receiver. “DK Metcalf may be available on the market but is Green Bay making a play for him,” Cowherd wondered as he continued to explain the situation of the Packers.

Cowherd said now that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t have any weapons in his arsenal, he’s going to face a lot of criticism in 2022 when he goes on to lose games. Given how prickly the 4x MVP is, Cowherd believes this will prompt him to leave Green Bay after a year. Then the Packers will have a salary cap issue for one year but they will rebuild again without Rodgers which is a good thing.

“He got his $50 million. There have been lots of WRs available at reasonable prices. Why won’t Green Bay go after any of them?” Cowherd posed an important question. The Packers don’t have an early pick that could’ve guaranteed them a great WR. So, Aaron Rodgers is to be held responsible for the Packers suffering right now. Let’s see how Rodgers fares in the 2022 season with no receivers but a whole lot of money!
