“Jameson Williams is the closest thing to Tyreek Hill” Todd McShay believes the Kansas City Chiefs can find the perfect replacement for their superstar receiver in the 2022 Draft
Jameson Williams and Tyreek Hill
The Kansas City Chiefs completed a blockbuster trade that saw them send Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins recently. Now, Todd McShay believes Jameson Williams would be suitable to fill the gaping hole in the Chiefs’ offense.
The split happened due to Tyreek Hill wanting to be the highest-paid receiver in the NFL. He saw Davante Adams’ contract with the Las Vegas Raiders and wanted to beat it at every level. Kansas City did offer him a bigger contract but it simply wasn’t enough and so they gave him permission to seek a trade.
It only took a few hours from then for the world to find out that Hill would be heading home to Miami in a monster trade that featured 5 draft picks. The Dolphins sent Kansas City their 2022 1st, 2nd, and 4th rounders along with their 2023 4th and 6th round picks. Certainly is quite the pickup for one player and can be utilized extremely well.
Todd McShay believes that one of those picks can be spent on Jameson Williams. He recently shared his thoughts about why that would be effective.
Todd McShay believes Jameson Williams could be extremely dangerous in Kansas City
In a segment of ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ Todd McShay was quoted saying “I think they(Kansas City) need to get aggressive. They should go up and get the receiver they need. Jameson Williams is the closest thing to Tyreek Hill in this draft. With the speed not only vertically but also after the catch, he will give them the big play element that they’re missing with Tyreek Hill gone. So, it makes sense to me.”
McShay further added “If you sit there at 29, all the other receivers, Jameson Willaims will be off the board, Jahan Dotson from Penn State will be gone. Why not package those additional picks and go up and get that additional playmaker. Yes, you may lose the first month of the season because he’s coming off the ACL injury but when he gets healthy, you’re gonna have a dynamic difference-maker.”
Whether or not the Chiefs do move up in the draft can only be speculated upon as of now. It’s not like they have no weapons at all either because they added Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency. But one more deep threat would always be useful for Patrick Mahomes.
