What do Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Lebron James have in common? Well, besides the obvious fact that they’re all legends of their sports, they are at the tail ends of their careers and are looking to secure their future. Colin Cowherd recently discussed how it’s slightly different for Brady though.

When Lebron James made his historic move from Cleveland to LA to join the Lakers, it took a bit of time for things to come together but eventually he got his championship. After that, he signed a massive extension and since, hasn’t got close to a ring and it doesn’t seem to be coming this season either.

Aaron Rodgers was in the headlines much more recently as he became the highest-paid player in the NFL to remain with the Green Bay Packers. His 3-year $150 million contract was largely seen as Rodgers securing his future and not really caring about winning anymore.

Colin Cowherd took this into account and gave his take as to why Lebron James and Aaron Rodgers went after the big money but Tom Brady hasn’t done so.

Colin Cowherd claims Tom Brady has never ‘chased the money’

In a segment of his show ‘The Herd’, Colin Cowherd was quoted saying “All throughout sports, for great and iconic players like Lebron James and Tom Brady, there are 3 stages. There’s the showoff stage. Like Lebron running down and blocking shots saying I’ll show you how great I am. After that people say what about titles? So Lebron went to Miami and got the titles. After that comes the mogul stage.”

Cowherd added “Players who have their titles, have the legacies, they go after the big money. It’s the mogul stage. Even as great as Lebron James is, the mogul stage has its limitations. Management has made the ending ugly. Lebron is still good enough to dominate this league. Ownership and the executive offices of the Lakers are below average and so he has been reduced to just being unbelievable.”

Cowherd also added “Brady’s career is different. Brady’s career was ending like this and Brady didn’t choose money. He chose management. It was Belichick’s belief in his culture and ego that gave him no weapons. And so, Brady unlike a lot of the all-time greats, said I’m out. I’m not going to the mogul stage and that’s why Brady’s ending is so great.”

To further emphasize his point, Cowherd said “Tom Brady lived by my belief in this industry. Don’t chase money, chase management. You’ll make money. Brady’s gonna win Super Bowls, he’ll be in commercials, he’s gonna make all that money. Aaron Rodgers is chasing money. He’ll never win another title. It’s gonna be pretty soon that Rodgers doesn’t get the commercials anymore. “

Cowherd’s final statement was “Even Lebron, as great as he is, that’s not a playoff team. Brady is one of the five favorites to win the Super Bowl and Lebron isn’t gonna make the playoffs.”

With Tom Brady back in the NFL and not chasing the money, he has a chance to extend his record and get his 8th ring and Tampa is keeping the players to do so. Only time will tell if his chase for success will prove fruitful.
