“I didn’t have the itch to come back until…” Tom Clements reveals the primary reason why he returned to the Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers have had a decent offseason so far, as they have successfully managed to keep Aaron Rodgers at the franchise. After last season, it looked imminent that Rodgers would leave the franchise but a new and improved contract has held him put with the Packers.

They are already reaping the benefits of giving him the new contract, and the season has not even started. The veteran quarterback has made an important contribution in the appointment of their new quarterback coach, Tom Clements.

Tom Clements was also part of the Green Bay Packers for a decade from 2006-2015

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur had already spoke on the influence, Rodgers had on Clements to bring him into the franchise’s backroom staff. This time Tom Clements himself spoke of how Aaron Rodgers’ persuasion convinced him to take up the job and return to the Packers yet again in his career.

“I didn’t have the itch to come back,” Clements said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “It was because of coming back to Green Bay, with Aaron, [and a] chance to win a Super Bowl. Those were the primary considerations.”

Tom Clements said that he did not have the same itch to return to the Packers if it had not been for Aaron Rodgers’ presence at the franchise. Clements had a huge role as he spent more than a decade at the franchise from 2006-2016.

Clements had taken a break from the circuit in 2021 and wanted to take some time off, however with Aaron Rodgers’ offer he decided to make an early return to the game.
