Urban Meyer was the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars for only 13 games of the 2021 season. In that time, he managed to become one of the worst head coaches of all time and his firing was a relief to the Jaguars players.
Right from the beginning, Urban Meyer set a poor standard in Jacksonville when he was seen dancing at a bar with a woman that wasn’t his wife. That really wasn’t how things should’ve started for him and it only got worse when he reportedly kicked Josh Lambo and then justified that by saying “I’m the head ball coach, I’ll kick you whenever the f**k I want.”
As if that wasn’t bad enough, a recent report by ‘The Athletic’ revealed what was going on behind the scenes and how unbelievably bad things were in Jacksonville.
Jaguars players reveal how toxic Urban Meyer really was
The report by ‘The Athletic’ revealed just how bad things were in Jacksonville as according to people in a meeting, Urban Meyer was quoted saying “And do you know what would happen if I cut you guys? You couldn’t get a job paying more than $15 an hour.” This left one veteran player very upset as he told ‘The Athletic’ “I lost all respect for him after that.” One of the veteran front office staff members described the environment as “The most toxic environment I’ve ever been a part of. By far, it’s not even close.”
Along with that atrocity, it seemed that Meyer put in no effort to study the game at the next level as he was unaware of some star players like Deebo Samuel and Jamal Adams. The worst was when he didn’t know who Aaron Donald was as he reportedly asked one of his staff members “Who’s this 99 guy on the Rams? I’m hearing he might be a problem for us.”
With Urban Meyer degrading his players and being so disrespectful to them along with seeming like he didn’t care enough to learn more about the league, Twitter had an absolute field day with him and turned him into the laughingstock of the internet. Here are some of the best reactions.
