“He’s burnt toast!” Twitter hilariously reacts to Eli Apple re-signing with the Cincinnati Bengals

After their Super Bowl LVI loss, the Cincinnati Bengals have been hard at work in free agency to improve their team to make sure they will come back to the big game and win it this time around. That includes a somewhat controversial re-signing of cornerback Eli Apple.

In 2021, Eli Apple played his first season in Cincinnati where he started 15 games and played 979 defensive snaps and had 2 interceptions. He also gave up 47 receptions for 602 yards and 3 touchdowns and was in coverage on Cooper Kupp for the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl.

It was during the playoffs when after the Bengals beat the Titans, Eli Apple decided to hate on Saints and Giants fans(2 teams he used to play for) for no apparent reason. This triggered many responses from fans across the league that based Apple for his level of play. After the tweet anything he did wrong was ridiculed online so, after the Super Bowl, it truly was a nightmare for him.

Despite his somewhat shaky level of play at times, the Bengals have decided to bring him back for 2022.

Eli Apple agreed to a 1-year deal to remain in Cincinnati recently and will look to play at a high level in 2022. Of course, he did do that for most of 2021 but that gets forgotten because of the fair amount of trash talk he’s dished out to fans on Twitter.

That along with giving up the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl has meant it hasn’t been a smooth offseason for him and Twitter isn’t letting up anytime soon. Here are some of the best reactions to the announcement.
