Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes is considered the best quarterback of the younger generations and is said to be as great as Tom Brady. Recently, he has been highlighted all across headlines but not through his own fault. His former teammate, Tyreek Hill who made the transition from Kansas City to Miami has been berating Mahomes in his podcast.
Hill made a bold statement when he compared his new quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to Mahomes and said that Tua is a more accurate passer than the Chiefs QB. Hill received a lot of backlash for his statement and critics claim that he will regret leaving the Chiefs after 4 games into the 2022 season.

Patrick Mahomes was the center of an anonymous defensive coordinator’s claim that the quarterback plays “streetball” and his playing style is not up to NFL standards. The coordinator said, “We love Mahomes because of his unorthodox throws, not because of his natural pocket presence. And when that disappears, that is when they lose games. I don’t think that is a (Tier 1) QB, I think that is a (Tier 2) QB. Nothing against the guy. I love the kid. But take his first read away and what does he do? He runs, he scrambles, and plays streetball.”
It can’t be refuted that Mahomes does have a unique playing style. He does make the occasional “streetball” throws but only under certain situations. Mahomes has the makings of a great quarterback which is evident from watching him lead the Chiefs to four consecutive AFC Championship games and a Super Bowl victory. His pocket presence and ability to throw that deep ball are a treat to watch. The way he evades defenders and guarantees that crucial first down is what makes him a Tier-1 QB.
At the Chiefs training camp, Patrick Mahomes was seen practicing a “streetball” move. He was seen passing the football behind his back to the running back. His “streetball” playing ability is what separates him from ordinary QBs. These kinds of play come in handy when the defense is breathing down our neck on a third-and-one play. It’ll be amazing to see Mahomes make this play in the coming season.
