Mathieu is hitting free agency this season and it seems like the team from Kansas is in no mood to re-sign him. In fact, Justin Reid has been added to the Chiefs roster. He has signed a three-year contract with the franchise. “Bro, I was depressed,” Mathieu told The Kansas City Star in an interview after it was confirmed that his time with the Chiefs has ended.

Heartbroken. Heart. Broken. I could not understand it. I could not, man. To be honest, if they would’ve offered me Justin Reid’s deal, obviously I would’ve tried to negotiate, but if that’s where they drew their line in the sand, I probably would’ve took it. I probably would’ve took it. Agents are going to do their thing, but at the end of the day, it’s the player’s decision whether to sign it or not,” he added.

Mathieu seemed extremely disappointed as this one-sided divorce has left him hurting. It will be interesting to see which team ends up roping in Mathieu for the coming season.
