“Victory comes at a price” – Los Angeles Rams expects some SHOCKING news after Super Bowl
Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams victories this season will also result in some losses after the season ends. The Rams brain trust that has led the team to Super Bowl will be short a few members next year.
The 2021 Rams have been a complete team. The offense, defense, and special teams have contributed equally to the team’s success the entire season.
Los Angeles Rams assistant coaches are leaving the organization for promotions
As per league sources, offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell is set to become the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings after Super Bowl LVI and is expected to take Rams tight ends coach/passing game coordinator Wes Phillips with him as his offensive coordinator or passing game coordinator.
Furthermore, Rams secondary coach/passing game coordinator Ejiro Evero is expected to become the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator. However, the Rams are ready with their replacements. Kentucky Wildcats offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who already has worked as the Rams’ quarterbacks coach under Sean McVay, is likely to take over O’Connell’s responsibilities, per league sources.
Former Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson, who also worked as the Rams’ quarterback coach in 2017, is likely to return to the staff and could be the offensive coordinator consideration or take over the same quarterbacks coaching job which he previously held, per league sources.
Los Angeles also could decide to promote running backs coach Thomas Brown, who received head-coaching interviews, to be offensive coordinator. The Rams have many options to cover the hole the coaches are going to leave after Super Bowl. The Rams have already faced the same situation before after Super Bowl LIII. Of the 20 coaches that were on their staff from Super Bowl LIII, only six remain on staff.
Assistants are about to leave Los Angeles for promotions but more are expected to return to give the Rams the stability they will need for the 2022 season.
