The Dallas Cowboys (5-7) look to continue their merry turn against the Cincinnati Bengals (4-8) after picking up the pace in the last two games. The Bengals will visit the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Monday, December 9 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
The Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals share a lopsided rivalry, having clashed only 14 times in NFL history. Their most recent showdown was in 2022, where the Cowboys edged out the Bengals in a low-scoring affair in Dallas. The Bengals, however, haven’t tasted victory against the Cowboys since 2004, as Dallas dominates the all-time series with a 10-4 record.
The playoff chances for both teams are scarce with the Bengals plunging into drafting top 10 next year. However, they are still not out of the picture. There’s some hope left.
The loss to the Steelers last week might have affected their chances, but the remaining five games consist of three games against losing teams. In case the Bengals can defeat the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, they will have a fighting chance.
In addition to the game time fun, there’s something special about the game. ESPN has revealed that the Bengals’ December 9 matchup against the Cowboys will feature a unique “Simpsons”-themed alternate broadcast. The alt-cast will pit Bart Simpson and the Bengals, against Homer Simpson and the Cowboys, bringing animated fun to the football field.

What gives the Dallas Cowboys the edge?
Dallas Cowboys are rolling two wins, including a face-saving win over the New York Giants in their last outing. Although they are missing Dak Prescott, the backup option, Cooper Rush, has been performing in the last two games of the season including the win over the Washington Commanders.
However, their main element in this transformation from a five-game losing streak is mainly their defense which has gotten way better. Led by Micah Parsons, who’s unwilling to give up and tank the season, the defense has held the opposing opponents for ten points or fewer through the first three quarters in the last two games.
The defense has been stepping up for the Cowboys, recording four sacks against Washington and six against New York. More importantly, they’ve started generating turnovers at a much higher rate. In the last two games, the Cowboys have protected the ball with just one turnover and have forced five takeaways.
Furthermore, there is a longshot possibility that DeMarcus Lawrence might join the team this week as well as Trevon Diggs could take the field on Monday. The added advantages might make the Dallas Cowboys a formidable foe.
What gives the Cincinnati Bengals the edge?
The Bengals, despite their losing record, have exploded this season in terms of their offense. The record is a stark contrast to the numbers put up by Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. Joe Burrow’s stellar play earned him the title of AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November, during which he passed for 1,035 yards, threw 12 touchdowns, and posted an impressive 107.7 passer rating.
The Bengals boast the top passing offense in the NFL, leading in both total passing yards and passing yards per game. They have been on a remarkable streak, scoring a touchdown or field goal on 37 straight red-zone trips since the third quarter of their season opener against New England.
They’re also in the top five for total points scored and points per game. The Cowboys’ defense has improved a lot, but they are still ranking 29th in total points allowed and points allowed per game. It could work well for the Bengals’ offense, who have put in more than 30 points in four losses this season.
