Jake Bates’ late field goal handed the Detroit Lions their 12th win of the season last week and sealed a place in the playoffs. Dan Campbell’s team will welcome the 10-3 Buffalo Bills at Ford Field on Sunday for the week 15 heavyweight showdown.

Josh Allen threw three and rushed for three touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams in Cali, but it wasn’t enough to save the Bills from suffering a 42-44 loss. The defeat snapped a seven-game winning streak that included victories against both Super Bowl LVIII finalists, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

Campbell’s Lions, on the other hand, are yet to lose a game since their opening-day defeat to the New York Giants. Quarterback Jared Goff led from the front once again, throwing three touchdowns and 32 completions for 283 yards in a three-score victory over divisional rivals the Green Bay Packers.

Historically, the Bills have dominated the fixture against the Lions. They are unbeaten in the last four meetings, including two visits to Detroit. 2022 was the last time they played each other, which ended in a 28-25 win for the Bills.

Allen threw 2 touchdowns and one interception for 253 yards, while Goff had 240 yards and 2 touchdowns. The last Lions victory in this fixture came back in 2006.

Why the Buffalo Bills can win?

The Bills defied the odds several times this season. Sean McDermott’s side is 8-5-0 against the spread and sits pretty as the second seed in the AFC. Allen currently leads the NFL MVP charts even after losing in LA. He has 252 completions for 3033 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.

Running back James Cook rushed 157 times for 723 yards and 11 touchdowns, while wide receiver Khalil Shakir leads the team with 65 receptions for 735 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Bills are currently the top touchdown makers in the league with a combined 49 TDs. They are second in scoring offense (30.5 points per game), fourth in red zone efficiency (converting 68.5% of their chances), and seventh in third down conversions (13.4% chances converted).

Why the Detroit Lions can win?

The Lions have gone from strength to strength in 2024. After losing out in the divisional round last year, they proved everyone wrong by being the most exciting team in the league. Campbell’s team is among the favorites to go all the way this season.

Goff has 276 completions for 3,265 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The running back duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs has scored a combined 22 touchdowns on the ground and covered more than 1700 yards for the Lions. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has 81 receptions from 98 targets for 863 yards and 9 touchdowns, followed by Jameson Williams with 39 receptions for 710 yards (18.2 yards per catch) and 4 touchdowns to their names.

The Lions lead the league in points per game with 32.1. They have the sixth-best red zone offense (67.3%) and the fourth-best third-down offense (45.8%).
