“And then there was one” might seem to be a reference to the 1994 movie featuring Amy Madigan and Dennis Boutsikaris, but in NFL terms it is a reference to the Week 18 games. The final week of the regular season features multiple key matchups and for the Denver Broncos, it is their last shot at making a playoff push.
The 9-7 Broncos go up against the 15-1 Kansas City Chiefs. It is a game that the former will need to win so that they can get a playoff berth for the first time since their 2015 Super Bowl season. Fortunately for them, the reigning champions intend to rest their key starters this Sunday which means Denver has a good chance of winning.
It is the dawn of a new day in the Mile High City. Bo Nix has proved to be an underdog who performs but tends to go unappreciated because his game is fundamentally strong but not flashy like Jayden Daniels.

Why can the Denver Broncos win?
The Broncos head into this matchup with the momentum in their favor. They have home-field advantage and the added benefit of going up against the Chiefs’ B-team. For Bo Nix and Sean Payton, this game is a must-win matchup especially in light of their loss to the Bengals last week.
The team’s offense will need to come in and do what they have become accustomed to doing every week but in order to give themselves the best shot at victory, Nix will have to watch himself when it comes to turning the ball over.
Why can the Kansas City Chiefs win?
The outcome of this game does not affect Kansas City’s playoff position. Head Coach Andy Reid is yet to take a call on the players he intends to rest but the assumption is Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Isiah Pacheco will all be out.
Carson Wentz will make his first start of the season for the Chiefs, and he will need to hold the fort down. The Chiefs have an opportunity to play spoilsport and slim the odds of Denver making it to the playoffs.
