Following a shaky but winning start to life in the NFL, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is looking forward to the Sunday night game against CJ Stroud’s Houston Texans. It promises to be a massive game between a Heisman Trophy winner and a runner-up.
Williams is looking to bounce back after completing just 93 passing yards against the Tennessee Titans in week 1. Former head coach Bill Belichick claimed he was unimpressed by Williams and advised him to improve quickly. The 22-year-old is taking inspiration from NBA legend Kobe Bryant to show a champion performance.
Stroud, on the other hand, picked up where he left off in his rookie season. He threw 24/32 for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts on opening day as the Texans secured a narrow 29-27 win.
These sides met each other in the Hall of Fame game in August, but neither Williams nor Stroud participated in the game, which the Bears won 21-17.

Why can the Chicago Bears win?
While the Bears have a formidable offense, it’s more than likely that Williams will be missing both Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen because of injury. In the first game, DJ Moore had 5 catches for 36 yards, while tight end Cole Kmet only caught the ball once for 4 yards. Williams ran the ball often, with D’Andre Swift carrying it 10 times for 30 yards and Velus Jones 2 for 11.
In defense, the Bears have a very potent secondary, with TJ Edwards securing 2.5 sacks to go along with 8.0 TFL, 153 tackles, and three interceptions last season. Pass rusher Montez Sweat had 12.5 sacks to go along with his 14.0 TFL and 57 tackles.
Why can the Houston Texans win?
The Texans stacked offense of Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell, and Nico Collins can hurt the Bears big time. Collins was Stroud’s favorite target in the Colts game with 6 for 117 yards, while debutant Diggs also caught 6 for 33. Running back Joe Mixon was the star of the show, carrying the ball 30 times for 159 yards and 1 touchdown in addition to 3 receptions for 19 yards.
Texans lead the recent series 2-4 in the regular season. The latest win came in the 2022 season at Soldier Field.
