The Buffalo Bills have gotten off to a solid start to the 2024-25 NFL season after winning their first two games. The team will look to win its third game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in their Week 3 matchup on Monday. The Jaguars enter the game with a sense of urgency vying to secure their first win of the season.

Monday Night Football will witness the matchup between Josh Allen and Trevor Lawrence in primetime. The game marks the return of Mitch Morse and Gabe Davis, two former members of the Buffalo Bills, who will look to bring their A-game against the old team.

Gabe Davis made his way to the Jaguars via free agency whereas Mitch Morse was released by the Bills and found a new home in Jacksonville. Morse will be more determined to stick it to his old team as he has admitted previously that the team’s decision to cut him was unforeseen. It’s not all one-sided as former Jaguars defensive end Dawuane Smoot will be on the other side of the ball this time, after he signed with the Bills this off-season.

The Bills have been off to a great start in Week 1 as they won a close-fought 34-28 battle against the Arizona Cardinals riding off of Josh Allen’s heroics. Week 2 was a cakewalk for the team, despite Allen’s mediocre performance, as they trumped the Dolphins 31-10 in a scary game that witnessed Tua Tagovailoa sustaining a concussion.

Trevor Lawrence will hope to put his best foot forward on Monday and begin to provide a return on Shahid Khan‘s $275 million investment into him. He has had just one touchdown throw so far this season. Last week, although, he had 220 yards in passing, he failed to throw a pass earning his team points on the board.

Predicted lineup for the Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Buffalo Bills:

Offense: Josh Allen, James Cook, Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox, Dion Dawkins, Spencer Brown, Connor McGovern

Defense: Greg Rousseau, AJ Epenesa, Ed Oliver, Dawuane Smoot, Dorian Williams, Rasul Douglas, Kaiir Elam, JaMarcus Ingram, Damar Hamlin

Offense: Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne Jr., Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, Brian Thomas Jr., Brenton Strange, Mitch Morse.

Defense: Josh Hines-Allen, DaVon Hamilton, Arik Armstead, Travon Walker, Devin Lloyd, Chad Muma, Montaric Brown, Antonio Johnson.

Why can the Buffalo Bills win?

Josh Allen seems to be a different quarterback this season. Despite losing Stefon Diggs in the off-season, he has stepped up to the plate and taken on the full responsibility of making the most out of the weapons he has.

Add this to the Bills’ dominant 2-0 start to the season and the deafening cheers of fans at Highmark Stadium—the home team has all the advantage in its favor.

Why can the Jacksonville Jaguars cover?

The Jaguars defense will bear the responsibility of stopping Josh Allen and the offense in its tracks. They have managed to be a problem for the Bills offense in past matchups.

The Jaguars excel at stopping the run game, which means James Cook will have a tough time this week. Through the first two weeks of the game, opposing RBs have carried the ball 45 times against them, but only two of those carries were for over 10 yards.

If the defense can hold off the Bills’ run game and force Josh Allen to make throws out of his comfort zone, then they can rely on Trevor Lawrence and the offense to put up points on the board and win their first game of the season.
