Why can the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win?

The Bucs will be vying to defend home-field advantage as they host the Ravens. With quarterback Baker Mayfield having passed for 1,489 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, they will attempt to stick to the passing game rather than the run game considering the Ravens’ defense ranks first against the run.

Fortunately for Tampa, their offense relies more on Baker Mayfield’s arm which means the Ravens’ defense, ranked 31st when it comes to passing defense will have to be careful and on its feet the entire night.

Another area where the Buccaneers have the edge is their defense, they have given up 23.5 points on average this season and have a 48% red zone touchdown rate which means they can hold off Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry provided the offense records yet another high scoring game.

Why can the Baltimore Ravens win?

The Ravens have been a threat on offense this season with the addition of Derrick Henry. With Lamar Jackson’s ability to rush and throw the ball efficiently, the Buccaneers’ defense will have a hard time formulating plays that will restrict both of these stars.

This season, whenever this duo has been able to have a good start to the game and get into a rhythm early on, they have been nearly impossible to stop. As long as Jackson and Henry can get into the zone early on, they will be able to get past Tampa’s defense.

Baltimore’s defense can shift most of its focus onto restricting Baker Mayfield and defending against the passing game, which has been a point of weakness for them. The Buccaneers are unlikely to rely a lot on the run game considering it is their opponent’s strength.
