Second time in five days, Spencer Rattler will suit up for the New Orleans Saints as they welcome the Denver Broncos. The Saints suffered a heavy 51-27 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Rattler’s first start in the NFL, replacing the injured Derek Carr.

The Broncos snapped a three-game win streak after a second-half comeback push wasn’t enough to beat the Los Angeles Chargers. This will be the first time since 2016 that the Saints will play the Broncos at home, a fixture in which the Denver franchise has dominated over the years (9-3).

A lot is riding on this particular game. It’s a homecoming for Sean Payton who won his only Super Bowl with the Saints. Similarly, Saints’ head coach Dennis Allen served as the defensive coordinator to Payton for 11 seasons in New Orleans and had the same designation in Denver in 2011.

I don’t think there’s going to be a lot of flowers and warm fuzzies for yours truly—and I get it… There will be emotions going back there, with the amount of time I was there.

Why can the New Orleans Saints win?

Rookie Spencer Rattler had a promising outing against the Buccaneers. However, several key players are missing for the Broncos fixture, including Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, tight end/running back Taysom Hill guard Cesar Ruiz, and linebacker Pete Werner.

Allen plans to field a very inexperienced side, which may be cause for concern for the Saints. They started the season in red-hot form but since have dropped off.

Why can the Denver Broncos win?

Even though the Broncos lost against the Chargers, Bo Nix threw for 216 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. He also covered 6 yards on the ground and is second in the squad for rushing yards. However, Nix has been awful under center, ranking 25th in scoring (18.7 points per game) and 29th in total yardage.

Besides being a very fluid offense, Payton runs a very mean defense, which ranks fourth in the NFL in both points (16.0) and yards (284.3) allowed per game. Furthermore, the Broncos are 2-1 on the road but 1-2 against the spread.
