This week presents an interesting matchup between the top rookie quarterbacks of the 2024 draft class. The Chicago Bears take on the Washington Commanders in a thriller that will not disappoint.

Both Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels have had an immediate impact on their respective franchises in their rookie year. While the former took a few games to adjust to the NFL’s style of play, the latter did not need any time to break in. Daniels has shown a lot of resilience and is playing like a veteran quarterback in the NFL.

The Commanders sit atop the NFC East with a record of 5-2 owing to Daniels’ leadership, Dan Quinn’s genius, and the team’s consistency on defense. Heading into the season, Washington had no expectations on its shoulders but 8 weeks into the season, the Commanders are favorites to win their division and make a deep playoff run.

The Chicago Bears rank 4th in the NFC North, the most competitive division in football this season. The Bears are headed on the right track with four wins and two losses. This week will be a test to see how good the Bears really are as they go up against one of the best teams in the league.

Why can the Washington Commanders win?

The Commanders will be left short-staffed on Sunday as Jayden Daniels’ status remains uncertain. If Dan Quinn chooses to bench his quarterback for better performance in the long run, Marcus Mariota will be starting. He is a competent player and played well in his debut against the Panthers last week, which should induce optimism amongst fans of the team.

On the positive side, the Commanders can continue to rely on Terry McLaurin, who will have no problem adapting to a different quarterback. There is still optimism that Daniels will make a return to the roster before Sunday.

Why can the Chicago Bears win?

The Bears’ recent hot streak has given the team a jolt of motivation. There has never been so much hype around Chicago and given what this team is capable of achieving, it is justified. Caleb Williams is coming off his best game against the Jacksonville Jaguars wherein he threw four touchdowns and this week, he will take it personally to prove that he is the best QB in this draft class.

The Bears have another advantage. The team is unlikely to get Jayden Daniels at his 100 % which means their offense will get off to a slow start.
